ETHEL VORONKOVA

Brantford, Ontario

Ethel Voronkova is an Ontario-based abstract artist known for her stylized, atmospheric compositions. Born in the Philippines, she moved to Canada with her family at the age of nine, an experience that continues to inform her layered sense of place and perspective. She began her full-time artistic practice in 2017.

Voronkova incorporates a soak-stain technique into her process, working on raw canvas and allowing pigment to absorb directly into the unprimed surface. She builds layered fields of color while intentionally leaving portions exposed, creating warmth, depth, and an organic looseness within each composition.

She studied Fine Art at Centennial College and Graphic Design at Humber College in Ontario. Her work has been featured in numerous group and solo exhibitions, including presentations at Arta Gallery and Twist Gallery in Toronto, juried exhibitions at the Toronto Outdoor Art Fair, the One Of A Kind Show in Toronto, and a solo exhibition at Hamilton City Hall. Her paintings are held in private collections across Canada and are placed in corporate collections throughout Ontario. Voronkova currently lives and works in Brantford, Ontario.
