Dynamic duo Elsa Caux and Faye Formisano graduated from École Duperré School of Design in Paris before joining forces in 2010 to form NANÜK Design Studio. Their collective experience includes illustration, surface patterns for fashion and interiors, and graphic and set design. NANÜK’s designs and patterns cast an enchanted interplay of nature, old-world charm, and pure totem power. In addition to collaborating with AREA, NANÜK works closely with Lacoste, Nina Ricci, Eric Bompard, Paul & Joe, Faith Connexion, and Monoprix. They are currently developing a limited collection of fashion accessories.
Their studio offers a large array of patterns that take their inspiration from animals, nature, and ancestral rituals and their know-how from the entire world. They open up a path into the infinitely small by diving into the material's skin in order to bring out its fascinating details.
NANÜK (nanook) means “polar bear” in Inuit mythology and represents the spirit of the hunter.
