Anna Carlson’s hand-drawn work reflects her interests in whimsical characters and geometric patterns, created using a process she describes as deliberate and meditative. In 2009 as a senior in high school in rural Connecticut, Anna self-published a coloring book for charity. At St. Olaf College in Minnesota, she pursued a studio art degree and was influenced greatly by study-abroad trips to Morocco, Berlin, and Thailand. After graduating in 2013, Anna accepted a yearlong apprenticeship program through St. Olaf, mentoring undergraduate students and creating work for two local gallery shows. Currently, Anna resides in Minneapolis, creating art and learning fabrication through her job at a sign company.
